The Alaska Department of Education & Early Development (DEED), in cooperation with school districts, will establish a virtual learning consortium so that virtual learning and professional development resources are available to students and teachers. The consortium will provide training for teachers on virtual instruction methods and the differences between virtual instruction and instruction offered in a classroom. The consortium will employ a reading specialist available to districts to provide virtual intensive reading intervention services to students. Virtual education courses and professional development must be available on or before July 1, 2024.
