Title IV Part A: Student Support and Academic Enrichment Grants

In Federal Fiscal Year 19 Alaska received an allocation of $5,308,325. 95% or $5,042,909 will go directly to eligible districts.

District allocations for Title IV, Part A SSAE Grants are formulaic based on Title I Part A allocations in the preceding year. 

$10,000 minimum grant award for all districts that receive a Title IV Part A allocation

2% cap on administrative costs.

Supplement NOT Supplant: Districts may not use program funds for the cost of activities in the three priority areas, if the cost of those activities would have otherwise been paid with State or local funds in the absence of SSAE program funds.

*Special Rule - Priority III: Effective Use of Technology

No more than 15 percent of funds allocated to priority III may be used to purchase technology infrastructure such as: devices, equipment, software applications, platforms, digital instructional resources and/or other one-time IT purchases.

Districts That Receive $30,000 or More Must conduct a comprehensive needs assessment that includes, at a minimum, a focus on the three priority areas.  The needs assessment must occur at least once every three years.

1. Well-Rounded Education: At least 20% of the district allocation must be dedicated to activities that support a well-rounded education
2. Safe and Healthy Students: At least 20% of the district allocation must be dedicated to activities that support a safe & healthy students
3. Effective Use of Technology: A portion of the districts allocation must be spent on activities that support the effective use of technology*

Districts That Receive Less Than $30,000 are not required to complete the comprehensive needs assessment, but are encouraged to consider the needs of all three priority areas when deciding how to spend SSAE funds and must focus on at least one of the three priority areas.
